Services

Good health is a lifelong journey that involves a wide range of services and support along the way. While midwives have historically been associated with only one aspect of that journey, pregnancy and childbirth, today’s certified nurse midwives offer a full breadth of well-woman care to support health and wellness throughout your life.

At the Midwifery Group at Swedish, we offer a full range of services that span from high school physicals and immunizations; to birth control counseling and gynecological care, to perimenopausal and menopausal counseling and treatment. In all facets of healthcare, you’ll find that our CNMs are excellent health counselors, offering a unique blend of traditional medicine, alternative techniques and educational resources to promote and enhance your physical, mental and emotional well-being. Here’s a closer look at the full range of services we provide:

Women’s Wellness Services

We provide sensitive, confidential and personal gynecologic care to women of all ages, including Pap tests, diagnosis and treatment for urinary tract infections, management of incontinence, HIV screening, treatment of sexually transmitted infections and other services. Depending on your individual healthcare needs and goals, our CNMs will work with you to determine and prescribe the most appropriate birth control methods, whether you prefer oral contraceptives, intra-uterine devices (IUDs), diaphragms or other options. We also provide fertility counseling and pre-conception advice, as well as guidance on natural family planning, permanent sterilization methods and emergency contraception.

In addition to these services, our CNMs provide annual exams and high school physical exams as well as immunizations for the flu and HPV (for patients age 9 to 26).

Maternity Care

At the Midwifery Group at Swedish, we support the concept of family-centered maternity care and recognize the importance this plays in the structure of family relationships. Throughout your childbearing journey, our experienced CNMs will work with you to address each aspect of your evolving healthcare needs, serving as your guide while continually sharing information, insight and knowledge to empower you to make informed, confident decisions about your care.

As midwives, our philosophy includes the belief that childbearing is a normal and natural physiological process. As a result, we are committed to working with patients to minimize the fear of the labor and delivery process through health education and anticipatory guidance, helping to reveal the childbearing process as a positive emotional experience for each patient and her family.
